Terms of service
These terms apply to the LifePace app for iPhone, LifePace on the web and the LifePace service behind them. LifePace is in development and not yet available. These terms describe how it will work at launch, and we will update them before then if anything changes.
1. Who we are
LifePace is run jointly by Martin Jöhren and Alexander Schardt, Hamburg, Germany (full addresses in the imprint). Email: info@lifepace.eu.
2. What LifePace is
LifePace makes a running plan from what you enter and from the runs and health values you allow it to read, and adjusts it every day from your morning check-in. The plan follows written training rules; no artificial intelligence decides your training.
LifePace gives training guidance, not medical advice. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and does not replace a doctor, physiotherapist or midwife. Where a health answer needs checking, LifePace recommends that you see a professional.
LifePace is for adults only (18 and over).
3. Your health comes first
- Ask a doctor before you start if you have a known heart, metabolic or kidney disease, or symptoms that may point to one, or if you are unsure whether running is safe for you. If you are pregnant or have recently given birth, talk to your midwife or doctor about your running.
- If you feel chest pain, unusual breathlessness, dizziness or faintness, or joint pain while running, stop and get medical advice before you run again. Do not wait for the plan to change.
- You decide whether, where and how you run. Follow traffic rules and adapt to weather, terrain and how you feel on the day.
- The plan can only be as good as what you tell it. Answer the health questions and the check-in truthfully, and update them when something changes.
4. Your account
You need an account to use LifePace. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us at info@lifepace.eu if you think someone else has used your account. An account is for one person.
5. Connected services
You can let LifePace read data from Apple Health or connect a Garmin or Oura account. Those services are run by their providers under their own terms, and we are not responsible for their availability or for the accuracy of the values they send. You can disconnect a service at any time; what LifePace does with its data is set out in the privacy policy.
6. Your data
How we process your data, and your rights, are set out in the privacy policy. You can export your data and delete your account at any time in the app.
7. Fair use
Do not use LifePace in a way that harms the service or other people: no attempts to break in, to read other people's data, to overload the service, or to collect data from it automatically.
8. Availability and changes to LifePace
We work to keep LifePace running, but it may be unavailable at times, for example for maintenance. We may change, add or remove features. If we stop offering LifePace, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance, so that you can export your data.
9. Price
Any price for LifePace or a part of it is shown to you before you agree to pay it. Nothing is charged without that agreement.
10. Ending
You can stop using LifePace and delete your account at any time in the app. We may close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why and, unless the breach is serious, giving you the chance to fix it first.
11. Liability
We are liable without limit for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz). For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper use of LifePace possible at all and on which you may rely, and then only for the damage typically foreseeable when you started using LifePace. Otherwise our liability is excluded.
12. Changes to these terms
We will tell you about changes to these terms at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then. The date at the top shows the current version.
13. Law
German law applies. If you use LifePace as a consumer, this does not take away the protection given to you by the mandatory law of the country where you live.
